Finding the Big Space

Pub Notes // Issue 113

As you may have heard DSPORT is in the process of moving to a bigger and better location. While our 1,500 square foot office has served us well for the past 10 years, there's literally no room left. Our dependence on multiple storage units and local shop has become too much of a burden. It's time to move.

What would sound like a simple endeavor has been quite the challenge. Originally we found an ideal location, listed at the right price. Unfortunately, we were the victims of false advertising. The real rice would be nearly double the advertised price. So we found a second location that looked like it would work. We visited the site while still occupied and it seemed workable. When we double checked on this site after the tenants moved out, we found that the entire shop floor needed to be re-coated, a $20,000 expense. We opted to keep looking.

We are now considering a "compound" consisting of two 6,500-square foot buildings and a shared gated lot. If this goes through, we'll have ample room for our AWD dyno, 4-post lift, 2-post lifts, a separate machine-shop room, a full welding/fabrication center, alignment rack, product photo studio and more. The DSPORT compound will allow us to elevate the quality of the editorial produced in the magazine while also serving as our new studio for video production. We are establishing a solid foundation for future success.

So how is DSPORT able to succeed during these challenging economic times? One reason for our continued success is to simply work harder than the competition. We put in more hours to be in more places and evaluate more products. We've also continued to give more to the reader. This year every issue will have some premium polybagged with the magazine.  Keeping our product value as high as possible helps distance us from the competition.

While our expansion increases our overhead and risk, it also provides us with an opportunity for growth and the ability to expand our staff. We are open for hiring qualified engineers, editors, salesmen and artists that have an immense passion for performance. If you are looking for an adventure with long hours, low pay and priceless benefits, send us your resumes.
