2011 In Review
While 2011 was a tough year for many companies, DSPORT magazine set newsstand sales records for copies sold and sales efficiency. Subscriptions increased 34 percent while attendance at IDRC events was up 40-percent over the 2010 season. Our DSPORT DVD increased its production value which resulted in increased magazine sales and awareness. Internally, we expanded both our editorial and video production staffs. Our goal was to make each and every issue better than the previous. We also made a big effort to go more places than ever before and our staff met some great enthusiasts around the country. There wasn’t much time for resting in 2011, but it was great to see our hard work pay off. Thanks to all of the subscribers and newsstand customers that supported DSPORT and its advertisers this past year. Our success is owed to you.
Boost Up For 2012
Our plans for 2012 are ambitious, to say the least. The most recent DSPORT reader survey let us know more about what our readers want. So that we can meet and exceed your expectations, our parent company (Hard Media Inc.) is investing in a new tech center for DSPORT. This tech center will feature a 4-wheel-drive, linked dyno; multiple lifts; alignment rack; flow bench; engine-building clean room; full welding station and fabrication area. Now, we’ll have all of the tools on hand to produce more builds and tests than ever before. Best of all, the new tech center will also be built as a studio for video and photography, so you’ll get to see all of the cool projects as they are being built.
Our goal is to have this DSPORT Tech Center on line by the middle of next year. Kevin Wells, the former crew chief for Chris Forsberg, will be heading up the setup of the new facility. Once set up, Kevin will manage the center to help produce some killer content.
Hitting "Pause" on the Tour
After trying our hardest to put together the DSPORT Tokyo Auto Salon for the 2012 TAS show, we ultimately decided to postpone the tour until the following year. Significantly increased air fares, a weak U.S. dollar and our inability to get definitive information on the radiation situation in Japan prompted us to hold off. Instead, only our staff will attend the show this year. Our plan is to recon the situation and work on putting a 2013 DSPORT TAS tour together that will deliver unprecedented fun and value. While we will miss hanging out with our biggest DSPORT fans this year, we’ll make sure that the 2013 tour makes up for the break in action. We thank you for your understanding.
