The 2011 DSPORT Model Search Winner comes to us all the way from Hawaii. Kellene Chun is a swimwear model and tv show extra by day, and a bartender by night. Pull up a chair as we go on our First Date with Kellene.

DSPORT: Aloha. Welcome to First Date, Kellene. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Kellene: I was born on Maui, Hawaii, but I’ve since moved to Oahu. A lot of people consider Maui to be more of the “country” area and Oahu as the “big city”, so I guess I moved to Hawaii’s big city to have more modeling and acting opportunities.

DSPORT: So you're Maui-built. What got you into modeling? Ever think you'd be an import model?

Kellene: When I was really young, my mom actually entered me into a lot of baby pageants. Even though I was very young at the time, it stuck with me. Now, I love to dress up and do makeup. Once I started there was no stopping me.

As far as being in the automotive industry, it was actually pretty easy. DSPORT is really popular in Hawaii, it’s the number-one selling car magazine there. So, it’s natural to want to model at any car shows or other car-related events around Hawaii. That’s how I fell in love with my favorite car, the Acura RSX. But, it has to be an ’06 or newer; no bubble lights for me.

DSPORT: Since you’ve had an entire lifetime of modeling, it must have allowed you to travel to some pretty exotic places. Is there any place you found particularly interesting?

Kellene: The DSPORT shoot is my favorite gig to date. When I got the call to come out I didn’t actually believe it until I landed at LAX. It’s so amazing to be out here as the winner of DSPORT’s model search. DSPORT is huge in Hawaii so this is a real honor and huge opportunity.

I’ve also been to Canada, Japan, New York and a lot of other places. My mom is a flight attendant so I am able to take advantage of those benefits to further my modeling career.

DSPORT: Outside of modeling, what else do you do for work or fun?

Kellene: When I’m not modeling, I actually tend bar. I just started doing that recently so I’m not that good yet, but it’s fun and I like learning how to do it. I also do a lot of extra work on television shows like Hawaii Five-O.

Also, even though I’ve lived in Hawaii my whole life, I’ve never learned how to surf, but I have danced hula for more than half my life. I guess I’m almost 100-percent “local”, through and through.

DSPORT: If a guy were to come to your bar, what would it take for him to get you to go on a date with him?

Kellene: I tend to like older men, but I’m not really picky. If he’s a native Hawaiian, I don’t mind a moke as long as he’s “classy.” Speaking pidgin doesn’t bother me either way. As long as he’s funny, intelligent and nice, there’s always hope.

DSPORT: Where do you want to see yourself in five or ten years?

Kellene: Traveling the world and becoming a successful model – that’s where I see myself over the next decade. I also want to finish school. Generally, I want to make the most out of my life and do as much as possible.

DSPORT: Awesome. Do you have any parting words for our readers?

Kellene: I just wanted to thank you guys again for this opportunity. Winning a model search and being on the cover of DSPORT are two dreams that have come true. To all my fans, if you’re ever in Hawaii, make sure you leave your jacket at home, bring some flip-flops and look me up. Maybe I’ll pour you a drink.
