DSPORT: Welcome to First Date, Melissa. Why don’t you start by telling us a little bit about your background.

Melissa: I was born and raised in America’s Finest City, San Diego, California. I still live in San Diego County now, but I spend a lot of time commuting back and forth between San Diego and Los Angeles.

DSPORT: How long have you been modeling and how did you get started in the industry?

Melissa: My mom actually had me modeling as a baby so I suppose you can say I started modeling at a really young age. As I got older, I went into a “super awkward” stage that was so bad, my mom pretty much told me I shouldn’t model anymore. That lasted four or five years and then everything grew back in to proportion so I started modeling again when I was seventeen. I’ve been doing it ever since and it has really started to pick up when I signed with the agency I’m with now.

DSPORT: We can't imagine how you could have an awkward stage, but we'll take your word for it. You just came back from Paris with a few other Royal Flush girls. Tell us about that.

Melissa: Paris was amazing. We took a tour of the city from a yacht and we saw the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame so that was an experience. On the downside, the climate was extremely hot and humid and it seemed like there weren’t too many places that had air conditioning. Also, since they’re in Europe, they like the wrong kind of football.

DSPORT: How else do you occupy your time outside of American football and the San Diego Chargers?

Melissa: If it involves being outdoors, I pretty much love to do it. I used to go snowboarding a lot when I was in high school, but it’s been a while so I’m a little bit rusty. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would probably rate myself as a 4. I’m also somewhat of a professional shopper so I can find something I like at pretty much any store.

DSPORT: Since we don’t see a ring on it, we’ll assume you’re available. Do you have any pointers for potential suitors? Where should one presumably take you on a date?

Melissa: It’s pretty sexy when a guy is ambitious, confident, funny and good at what he does. Generally speaking, the way he carries himself determines a lot. It’s also sexy if a guy or girl knows how to handle a fast car. As far as turn-offs, laziness and a lack of hygiene are probably the two worst things. I like to have a good time, but I have no problem with keeping it low key, either. I would have just as much fun at the club on Friday night as I would at the movies.

DSPORT: Where do you think you’ll be in five years? Is there anything that you want to accomplish?

Melissa: Right now I work for a cosmetic surgeon doing his website and marketing. I’m not 100-percent sure but something involving marketing would be interesting. I actually think acting would be a fun career, too. Starring in a Rob Zombie horror film would be great, especially if Ryan Gosling was my co-star.

DSPORT: And yet, you won't do a horror-movie scream for us. Do you have any parting words for our readers?

Melissa: I want to thank you guys for giving me the opportunity and giving me my first cover, and I especially want to thank my fans for all of their support. You guys are the best, and DSPORT rocks!
