We met the lovely Thai Marie Cali at this year's SPOCOM Super Show during the DSPORT Model Search presented by Tenzo-R. Based upon her shoot at the show, we selected Thai Marie as the DSPORT Model Search winner. As the winner, she graces the cover and earns herself a First Date feature.

DSPORT: Hello Thai. Welcome to First Date. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Thai: Before we begin, I just want you to know that I don’t put out on first dates... unless I’ve had a few drinks. So hurry up with my cocktail! But seriously, I think that I’m a sweet, fun-loving girl. I love to laugh and I’m always down for a good time. Like every other model, I’m into traveling and meeting new people.

DSPORT: Tell us about your family.

Thai:I come from an awesome family. My parents are the coolest parents ever. My mom is Thai and my dad is Sicilian. If you came in off the streets, my mom would cook you the best dinner ever, make sure you have a second serving and pack you a to-go bag. My dad would entertain you with the corniest jokes ever. I think the Sicilian side of me gives me my awesome sense of humor and my mom’s side gives me... my craziness. Yes, Thai women are crazy.

DSPORT: Interesting mix. Do you have siblings that share your craziness?

Thai: I have an older brother and a younger sister, making me the craziest middle child. The older kid is always the golden child and the younger one is the baby so I was always demanding attention.

DSPORT: Did your appetite for attention lead to modeling?

Thai: No it wasn’t like that. One of my friends was a model and when I turned 18, she hired me to do a few events. I met a few photographers who helped me start my portfolio. Then I made some good contacts in the industry, got hired to do more gigs and now it’s big time with the DSPORT SEMA cover.

DSPORT: How did you get hooked up with Nitto Tires to model at the SPOCOM show?

Thai: I was contacted by a talent agency looking for models to work at the Nitto Tires booth. I was already excited to work with such a big company but when I heard it was for SpoCom, I said “hell yeah!” SpoCom is probably my favorite show. I always have a great time because there is always so much going on. I love running into everyone I’ve met over the years. Plus the import scene is full of people that know how to party.

DSPORT: So what are you up to when you're not modeling?

Thai: I’m really into cooking right now. My mom and sister are amazing cooks and I want to cook as well as them. I just started last year and I’m still getting use to touching raw meat but I’m getting pretty darn good at it. I did slice my finger pretty badly a few weeks ago, but the eggrolls I was making still came out delicious. Maybe my blood added flavor.

DSPORT: What is your favorite type of food?

Thai: I'm pretty much down for anything except spicy food and seafood. I love anything Italian or Mexican.

DSPORT: No spicy foods or seafoods takes a big chunk out of the Italian and Mexican menus, doesn't it?

Thai: True but not all of their food is spicy. I also love a good steak... preferably bacon-wrapped with bleu cheese. Oops. I think I’m salivating.

DSPORT: What's your drink of choice from the bar?

Thai: I’m really into wine right now, but if I was at a club or bar I would order a glass of champagne or a Grey Goose and Seven-Up with no lime. If I really want to get crazy, I order a shot of Grey Goose chilled with a cran-back.

DSPORT: Spoken like a bartender.

Thai: Good guess. I am a bartender as well as go-go dancer, ring girl and of course model. I don’t tell my friends where I bartend. Why? I’d know I’d get in trouble for giving out too many free drinks.

DSPORT: What else do you do with your time?

Thai: I try to travel as much as possible. I think it’s important to explore, even if it’s in another state or a random town as close as an hour away. The most exotic place I’ve gone to so far has to be Thailand. It’s so gorgeous! The food is amazing and the people are so friendly. It’s also a plus that my mom’s side of the family still lives there, so visiting with them is always cool.

DSPORT: Do you do anything to stay in shape?

Thai: I’m obsessed with taking Spin classes. It’s a fun way to work out and stay in shape. I’m drenched in sweat by the end of my workout. Kind of gross, but it feels so good.

DSPORT: What kind of music gets you moving the most?

Thai: I like anything with a good beat. I love dancing to House music. Lately I’ve become sick of the same Top-40 mix you hear everywhere. So I’ve mixed things up a bit and got hooked on country music. I’m now convinced that I was a country music singer in my past life.

DSPORT: Aside from complimenting your country singing, what's the best way for a guy to break the ice with you?

DSPORT: Honestly, just be normal. I like sweet, polite guys who can make me laugh. It’s so simple yet not enough guys give it a shot. I’m a happy girl, so you have to keep me happy. I really like when guys remember things I tell them about myself. It just shows that they’re interested and actually listening.

DSPORT: Have you any parting words for our readers?

Thai: Thanks for checking out my issue of DSPORT Magazine. If you see me around, be sure to say hello and give me your best high-five. Now where's that drink?
