Zeitronix Wideband Datalogger

DATALOG – SEE IT ALL AGAIN

Zeitronix DataloggerThe Zeitronix Data Log Software (ZDL) can be downloaded for free from the Zeitronix website. ZDL permits analysis of the datalogs collected directly from the ZT-2 in real time on a laptop or recorded logs from the Black Box Data Logger or the DashDAQ II XL display. The software enables review of the logs and can display all of the recorded channels being monitored. Zeitronix engineered the software to function on laptops with as old as a Windows 95 operating system, so you can leave your high-end laptop at home and bring your old one to the track.

FLEXIBLE CONNECTION

The serial data port can be used for a variety of connections. It can be used to connect a laptop for datalogging and configuration of some ancillary features, like the narrowband switching point, when referencing the wideband instead of the factory O2 sensor for the factory ECU. Zeitronix’s Black Box Data Logger, up to three ZR-2 Multi Gauges, Zeitronix’s LCD display, or a Drew Technologies DashDAQ II XL touch screen display, can also make the connection to the ZT-2 by way of this serial port, offering a multitude of configurations for different applications.

Zeitronix DataloggerAn optional component that complements the ZT-2 wideband A/F and its ancillary sensors comes from Drew Technologies, the DashDAQ II XL display. According to Szwalgin, “Drew Technologies is a leader in OBDII technology, which made the DashDAQ II XL an obvious choice to adopt as our top of the line display. We worked with them to ensure a seamless, plug-and-play interface with the ZT-2.” When purchased preconfigured from Zeitronix, the touch screen display interfaces seamlessly with the ZT-2. With the serial cable plugged in to the data port, the display shows not only the basic ZT-2 channels (A/F, TPS, RPM) but also two additional user selected channels (additional sensors available through Zeitronix.) The DashDAQ II XL also features a special Zeitronix driver to read a second ZT-2 in the case of multiple wideband monitoring. The cable’s serial connector also has flying leads, permitting the addition of several additional channels that can be monitored as well. If your vehicle has an OBDII diagnostics port, the DashDAQ unit can be powered through the OBDII port and is capable of clearing DTC codes and monitoring sensors that the ECU connects to. The DashDAQ can also serve as a datalogging device, as it features a standard SD memory card slot that supports up to a 4GB card for storage. The card can then be downloaded onto a PC to be viewed using Zeitronix’s downloadable ZDL software. The mini USB port located to the side of the display permits PC connectivity for further software updates and configuration.

Zeitronix DataloggerPOWERFUL KNOWLEDGE

When you’ve raised the bar of performance under the hood, protecting your investment requires safe AFRs. Detecting fuel-lean conditions before they cause damage avoids costly repairs. Szwalgin concluded, “The ZT-2 was designed to be an easy to use engine monitoring tool fit for every tuner, driver and racer. Anyone that wants to keep their engine in one piece. It samples every channel you connect at a rate of 70 times-per-second, a much faster rate than OBDII which can be as low as 3 times-per-second.” Zeitronix’s ZT-2 wideband air-fuel meter, along with the DashDAQ II XL display, keeps you informed and enables a broad and flexible range of information to be recorded so that you can stay “In the know.”
