DSPORT: Please tell us a little about yourself.
Amanda: Well, I was born in Kansas City, Kansas, but I was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. When I turned 18, I moved to the East Coast in search of more opportunities.
DSPORT: Aren't you guys supposed to have good BBQ there?
Amanda: You know it. The best in the country.
DSPORT: Whoa, them is some fightin' words.
Amanda: Hey, I stand behind what I say.
DSPORT: What sort of opportunities were you looking for on the East Coast?
Amanda: I took a trip out to Virginia Beach, VA with a bunch of my girlfriends one year and after dipping my toes in the warm water I fell in love. I instantly became a beach bunny. Compared to Kansas City there are just a lot more modeling opportunities in Virginia Beach and Washington DC is not too far away.
DSPORT: Cool, so did you get into modeling right away or were you doing other things?
Amanda: I got into modeling when I was working at Hooters in 2001 and was selected to be in the Hooters calendar. I got into the import car scene in 2004 when I was asked to represent Import Velocity at a local car show in Virginia.
DSPORT: Which models inspired you when you were just starting out?
Amanda: I aimed high. Any model featured as a Victoria's Secret model became an icon to me. If I were to choose one model from the import scene, I'd have to say Jeri Lee was my icon.
DSPORT: What would you like people to know about you?
Amanda: That I am humble, I have a great sense of humor and that I give anyone and everyone a chance to be a friend.
DSPORT: So what are your career aspirations? Do you have other plans or are you going to continue to pursue modeling?
Amanda: Before modeling, I aspired to become a pediatrician. After getting into modeling, my priorities and goal changed.
DSPORT: Did you attend college before modeling?
Amanda: Yes, as a matter of fact I earned my associates degree in Medical Assisting and Administration.
DSPORT: That is great to hear. So if you could change careers for one year, would you return to the medical field or would you choose something different?
Amanda: I would be a stand up comedian.
DSPORT: Wow, that's a pretty radical departure. So let's talk about our favorite topic, cars. What was your first car?
Amanda: My first car was a 1989 Ford Tempo named "Hooptie".
DSPORT: Man that car was a hooptie. So what is your dream car?
Amanda: Wow, so many to choose from. I'd have to say my favorite is a R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R.
DSPORT: A popular choice. Can you drive stick? Can you do it in heels?
Amanda: Yes, I drive a 5-speed and I wouldn't have it any other way. Driving an automatic makes me feel like I don't have full control of my vehicle. Driving in heels is a must if you do what I do for a living. It keeps you "on your toes."
DSPORT: Gotta love a girl in heels. You have us mesmerized, let's change gears for a minute. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Amanda: Love? Maybe lust at first sight and if the chemistry is right, the lust can turn into love.
DSPORT: Sounds good to me. So what can a guy do to impress you?
Amanda: If he can make me laugh, he's got my attention.
DSPORT: Since you're a comedian at heart that makes sense. We'll try our best. What's the most embarrassing thing you've done while on a date?
Amanda: I snorted while I was laughing. Yeah, sometimes that happens to me.
DSPORT: We'd think that was cute. We've done much worse. What is your favorite food?
Amanda: I would have to say that Mexican is my favorite.
DSPORT: So what is you favorite Mexican dish?
Amanda: Cheese enchiladas.
DSPORT: That is a deadly combination, cheese enchiladas and snorting.
Amanda: (laughing aloud) Hey, that's not funny.
DSPORT: When you are out on the town, what is your favorite drink?
Amanda: My favorite would be Red Bull and vodka.
DSPORT: Sold! I think we're soulmates. I can make you laugh, my favorite drink is Red Bull and vodka, you like GT-Rs, I like GT-Rs. What more do we need?
Amanda: (Uncomfortable silence) We'll have to go get some drinks then.
DSPORT: Another date with you, you bet.
Amanda: Who said "date"?
DSPORT: Damn. What sort of music gets you out on the dance floor?
Amanda: Anything with a beat. I love to dance.
DSPORT: So what sort of music could we expect to find in your MP3 collection?
Amanda: Mostly hip hop, both the old and new material. I also like 80's rock and some Spanish music.
DSPORT: That's pretty much what you've been hearing at Hot Import Nights events throughout the years. You were crowned Miss HIN 2007, what are your plans for 2008?
Amanda: I am planning to attend as many of the 2008 HIN events as possible. I'd love to see all of you there!
