SUPRA JZA80 TWIN 044 MAGNUM
For a number of years, the Bosch “044” fuel pump has been a motorsports staple. Unfortunately, the street-performance market hasn’t used these pumps that often as they are traditionally used in an external configuration. Fortunately, Powerhouse Racing has a better idea. By putting two modified Bosch 044 pumps on its special hanger, they’ve developed the best flowing twin-pump solution we’ve tested. Running high boost, the Bosch 044 pumps don’t seem to care. For every 10 psi of operating pressure increase, these pumps only lose about 15lph of flow. Need to run 55psi of boost? It’s simply not a problem as these twins will support flows to over 1,400 wheel horsepower on gasoline or over 1,100 horsepower on E85.
The custom Powerhouse Racing hat and hanger uses a pair of -8AN feeds and a single -6AN return. It is imperative that a proper staging or PWM strategy is used with these pumps as the flow delivery will overpower conventional fuel pressure regulators if both pumps all driven continuously.
