LEXUS IS300 TWIN-PUMP SYSTEM
We ran into Squash Performance at the 2012 SEMA Show and were happy to see this new player in the import performance aftermarket. For those looking to go crazy with an engine swap or high-boost engine build, Squash Performance offers its Lexus IS300 Twin-Pump System. While Squash offers a number of different pump options, we tested the system with a pair of “262” Walbro pumps (a.k.a. 400lph pump). The system offers either -8AN or – 6AN feed with a -6AN return. The system we tested had a -8AN feed. The unmodified Walbro 262 performed very well at lower operating pressures. However, the pumps did show a rather steep flow loss to operating pressure curve. They simply didn’t like to be run at the higher pressures. While the flow testing showed support for over 1,000 horsepower on gasoline at 20psi of boost pressure, this number dropped to just 735 horsepower at 35psi of boost pressure.
