Turbocharged E46 BMW M3

SHOW TO BE DIFFERENT, GO TO BE QUICK

DSPORT Magazine feature editorial on this turbocharged E46 BMW M3While he has found satisfaction with the build at this stage, there is no telling what direction Estudillo will take his M3 mash up next. Over the course of the eight-year build, the M3 garnered over 70 awards, and that was before the current iteration presented here. Estudillo concluded, “There were some aspects of the build I would have done differently. I’ve gone through several supercharger systems and several stages of the turbo build before arriving at the current setup. I’m fortunate that my career has helped me to afford the evolution of the build and all of the unique components. I’ve invested around $170,000 to reach this stage, and in hindsight, I should have just accepted that I would have been happiest with a built engine and turbo system from the start. I could have saved a lot of money. But the experience was worthwhile and taught me a lot about building cars. My parts selection and willingness to push the limits sets my build apart from other BMWs. Building a car that includes both European and Japanese elements is far less common, and accomplishing my ultimate goal of going wide body really makes the build unique. I wanted something that didn’t conform to the masses that would not be classified as cookie cutter. I’m always thinking outside the box and I feel that this build achieves that objective.” As Estudillo prepares to hit the 2014 show scene, he hopes to find the time to swap in some race rubber and hit the local tracks to put his otherworld BMW to the test.
