IDRC International Finals Drag Racing October 18-19, 2014

2014-10-idrc-finals-008Clash of Classes

The CP-Carrillo Pro-Am Turbo class was joined by the True Street class and one Pro All Motor competitor, which made for an interesting and highly contested field. Every driveline was represented in this field. The top qualifier Jarrett Lynch set the bar with his RWD RX2, while Jeff Chang seeded second in his AWD Subaru STI. Luis Arenas’ fire breathing FWD Civic seeded third. As the eliminations proceeded, breakdowns plagued the field. Chang advanced to the semi finals and would have been paired with another True Street class competitor, Hugo Banuelos. But Banuelos failed to answer the call, giving Chang the easy slide into the finals. In the final pairing, Lynch and Chang faced off at the tree. Lynch literally got the jump as his wheelie-popping Mazda clicked off its quickest and fastest pass for the weekend, a 10.126 second run at 128.42 mph. This was enough to beat Chang to the traps and to claim the class victory.
