Making the power to run an 8-second pass is proving to be a lot easier than getting the car to deliver it to the ground. We took the D’Garage R33 Skyline out to Irwindale in attempt to lay all this power down for our quickest pass yet. Improper clutch adjustments and a failed fan clutch relay were the first gremlins to attack that night. This was later followed by a nitrous backfire that bent the throttle shaft. Those issues were fixed, and we tried again at the 2015 IDRC West Coast Nationals. New issues surfaced concerning excessive engine protection actions…

Even with the Monday during our TAS tour being a Japanese National Holiday, that didn’t stop our friends at UpGarage from holding a formal welcome event for the tour group. As the group flooded into UpGarage, announcements went up over the PA system, welcoming our group and informing them that their purchases would be duty-free. The chairperson of Up Garage, Mr. Makoto Ishida, welcomed the group and offered everyone a souvenir UpGarage swag bag. He also sat down for an interview with DSPORT’s Publisher Michael Ferrara and TAS Tour Coordinator Toshi Hayama. Ishida shared a little about the company and…

For this DSPORT classic we revisit the 1999 Battle of the Imports race in Palmdale, CA. Hosted by the founder of Turbo Magazine Kipp Kington and DSPORT’s publisher Michael Ferrara. This race feature many of the popular cars & stars from the late 90s drag racing scene.

After making the necessary upgrades to the turbo system, electronics and fuel delivery, our good friend Beau Brown from AEM Electronics came down to help us get the car fired up. In just a half hour, he set up the AEM Infinity and the KA24 rumbled back to life. Once we verify that the engine is healthy and that all of the sensors have been calibrated correctly, we’ll begin testing all of the turbo combinations available with the divided V-band.

We went deep into the IDRC vault and uncovered this classic event from 2002. Watch drag racing stars Ari Yallon, David Buschur, John Shepard, Carlos Montano, Ron Lummus, Sav Leone, Erick Aguilar, and Shawn Geers battle it out in the high altitude of Bandimere Speedway.

When it comes to enthusiasts, most want the stickiest max performance summer tires on the market, whether they need it or not. However, expensive summer tires generally wear out very quickly and aren’t spectacular or even sometimes safe in the rain. What most enthusiasts need is a tire that can deliver great summer performance, deal with the wet conditions and last for many, many miles. This is the winning combination that the ultra-high performance all-season category looks to fulfill. For 2015, BFGoodrich is launching a new tire that aims to fulfill these criteria, its g-Force COMP-2 All-Season. We get to…

THIS IS STEP 1 TO BUILDING A 1000WHP HONDA B-SERIES ENGINE!!! The line boring process ensures that all of the main journals are properly sized and in-line. This is critical at 11,000RPM and over 1,000 horsepower in order for the main bearings to survive. All of the caps must be ground first (in this case 0.005”) and the block must be properly positioned for this high precision operation. Vertical line boring eliminates the issues that plague conventional horizontal line boring operations or line honing operations. Stay tuned and subscribe to our DSPORT channel as we will soon be releasing our…

The “Street Cyber EVO iX” was featured in DSPORT DVD #19. DSPORT DVD #19 came Free with the July 2011 Issue of DSPORT Magazine

They said it couldn’t be done, so we did it. We built a 1,000+ horsepower B-Series engine. Had we been among the flock of misguided sheep looking to forums religiously, chances are that our engine combination would be very different. Following BAD forum advice would have likely resulted in missing the targeted horsepower goal while experiencing engine failures along the way. Taking a better path, we relied upon the engineering, engine building and engine development knowledge and experience that we have here at DSPORT. Since there is not another automotive publication in the world that has a staff with Champ Car,…

Our Issue #137 BNR34 Skyline cover car hitting the DSPORT dyno. STAYING THE COURSE Ashton Makenzie agrees with the motto above. “I always set my goals high for my project car builds,” he said. “For my current project, I wanted a car to be reliable, even when taking long road trips, while retaining all of the factory amenities. I don’t compromise on items like air conditioning and power steering, and I won’t allow obstacles to change my build path. My ‘ultimate’ streetcar had to look the part, in addition to having the power to back its aggressive appearance.”

DSPORT Magazine/DVD made the trek to Coalinga for the 2013 Shift S3ctor Airstrip Attack. With a wide array of high horsepower cars in attendance, we knew that we were going to capture some great footage. The Shift S3ctor Airstrip Attack brings to the table a new dynamic of trap speed racing. With a one mile stretch of runway and each racer given a rolling start, the highest top speed recorded is crowned the winner. With near 200mph passes from multiple vehicles, the tone has definitely been set for future events. Take a look at the video to see all of…

Here is a first look at Infiniti’s latest offering into the premier sports sedan line with their 2014 Infiniti Q50. Introduced in 2003, the Infiniti G35 took on a luxury sport sedan segment already saturated with numerous European offerings. Over the last ten years, the performance of the G sedan never went unnoticed, with its underpinnings derived from the 350/370Z. For 2014, Infiniti looks to challenge its competitors again with a replacement for the G sedan, the 2014 Infiniti Q50. The Q50 offers two engine choices – a familiar 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 or a 360-net-horsepower 3.5-liter hybrid. All Q50s whether…
