DRAG READY RACER
In anticipation of single-digit slips, the cabin was reinforced with a cage fabricated by Afterhours Automotive. Lightweight Kirkey aluminum race seats and Simpson 5-point harnesses secure the occupants within the lattice work. A Sparco steering wheel transmits steering input while an AIM MXL Pista dash relays vitals. On the outside, a Jojo Callos Racing three-piece front end covers the Spinwerks drag wheels mounted with M/T 26-inch slicks.
EFFORTS REWARDED
Ever the competitor, Loarca could not be discouraged by the challenges he faced throughout the build. Once his transmission woes had been resolved, achievements began to fall into place. He comments, “I consider myself a very competitive person. I am always challenging myself to run better with each visit to the track. Some of my achievements include three first place finishes, two runner ups, and four semi-final finishes. My fastest trap speed has been 164 MPH and my quickest elapsed time was a 9.24 at the 2011 IDRC International Finals.” He continues, “I definitely attribute these achievements to my engine builder, a good transmission and last but not least the knowledge that I’ve attained over the years.” With the eight-second barrier just around the corner, expect Loarca’s learning curve to take him up to the next level.
