The World’s quickest and fastest WRX.” That title alone commands attention and respect. In 2002, ESX Motorsports worked in conjunction with Tony Rigoli Performance to create the ultimate WRX. The end result was this 2.5-liter, 800 horsepower sprinter that has cleared the traps in 9.98 seconds at 141.9 MPH. This was an unprecedented and unmatched performance for a  WRX in 2003. While many STIs have since stepped up the game among Subaru drag racing enthusiasts, ESX’s WRX continues to reign supreme.

Ali Afshar has made numerous appearances at IDRC Drag races with the ESX STI. This car has dominated its class with a best time of 8.91 @ 156MPH.

UPDATE
In 2004, Julie Stepan won a nationwide driver search contest to campaign this WRX for the year. While transporting this car to Texas for a promotional appearance, ESX’s truck and trailer hit black ice on the road and lost control. The truck and trailer rolled, killing the driver Ross Kauffman and totaling the chassis. A 2005 shell was purchased and received the engine and driveline from the totaled chassis for Julie to compete in. After Julie’s year of competition, ESX’s Ali Afshar has been running consistent 9-second quartermile passes at IDRC events ever since.
