Brace Yourself An unsupportive seat without adequate bolstering can leave you slipping and sliding during hard cornering. Unlike most factory seats that lack support, a properly mounted fixed-back bucket seat can hold you tight on the street and the track. For 2015, Sparco introduces its latest Grid bucket seat. The Grid features a unique design that incorporates individual padding that is attached by Velcro, allowing for ventilation channels and a customized fit. In addition to the unique and shell design, the Grid seat is the first seat to utilize Sparco’s Lightened Fiberglass (LF) technology for an average weight savings of…

Whether you drive a Honda or not, the term VTEC is something you’ve probably heard of either in a joke, seen in an internet “meme” or plastered on the side of a car accompanied by the letters D, O, H and C. It’s not high horsepower, large displacement or even turbocharged from the factory. However, the B-series engine introduced the world to Honda’s revolutionary Variable Valve Timing and Li Electronic Control (VTEC) technology. VTEC gave the B-series engines the equivalent of two di erent camsha profiles. The first cam profile offered low RPM response, good drivability and decent fuel economy.…

Building a project car in your spare time and on no particular deadline is a hobby. Properly constructing a 1,000-plus horsepower showstopper after work and on weekends in just a few months requires passion and sacrifice. Ernie Manansala Jr. owns just such a build, this award-winning 1,150 horsepower GT-R. When Toyota released its AE86 Corolla in 1983, the engineers could not have imagined the cult following this humble, rear-wheel drive sport compact would eventually garner. Over two decades after its production ceased in 1987, loyal fans of the platform continue to build, show, drift, drag and road race the AE86. Then in 2012 Toyta paid homage to its affordable and sporty Corolla by releasing the 86 in Japan, known as the Scion FR-S in the USA. This rear-wheel drive coupe (jointly developed with Subaru, whose model is named the BRZ) embodied the spirit of the original AE86, affordable, nimble…
